COUNCIL MEETINGS

Shinfield Parish Council meets formally on the THIRD MONDAY of each month throughout the year (except August). Meetings are usually between the hours of 7.30 pm & 10.00 pm. The continuance of business beyond 10.00 pm is subject to members' agreement (by vote).

During the first part of the meeting, public questions and relevant reports are received, the council then considers members’ proposals. In accordance with legislation, proposals must be notified to the Clerk in advance of the meeting for inclusion on the agenda - formal council decision cannot be taken other issues.

All council and committee meetings are open to the public and press although legislation permits their exclusion during consideration of commercially sensitive information or personnel issues.

Unless otherwise stated, meetings are held in SHINFIELD PARISH HALL (MEETING ROOM), SCHOOL GREEN, SHINFIELD, BERKSHIRE  RG2 9EH.

In addition to the main Council, to which all members are duty bound to attend, there are four main standing committees.

 

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

All committees meet on a regular basis. Dates of committee meetings are notified on this website.

 

STANDING COMMITTEES

  • Finance & General Purposes Committee meets at least 6 times a year
  • Planning & Transportation Committee meets on a 3 weekly cycle
  • Recreation & Amenities Committee meets at least 6 times a year

There is no restriction, other than time, on the number or the structure of committees.

 

WORKING GROUPS AND SUB-COMMITTEES

These are held on an ‘ad-hoc’ basis.

AGENDAS

Agendas are posted on all of the council’s public notice boards at least three days prior to meetings. Copies can be obtained by contacting the clerk and large print is available on request.  The agenda are now available on this site.

 

MINUTES

The minutes of all meetings are recorded and published by the Clerk(s) and are available for public inspection in Spencers Wood Library, Basingstoke Road, Spencers Wood or by contacting the Clerk. The minutes are now available on this site.
